Description
Primula japonica – Miller’s Crimson & Apple Blossom mix
Common names: Japanese primula, Candelabra primula
Royal Horticultural Society Award of Garden Merit (AGM)
Primula japonica is a classic hardy perennial garden plant of easy culture.
Candelabra primulas have striking whorled tiers (hence the name Candelabra) of rich colours standing majestically above striking mid-green clumps of luxuriant foliage.
It is very tolerant of the wettest heavy soils; in fact it will thrive under such conditions.
Flowering time is May and height at its peak is 60cm (2 feet+).
Forms a large clump that is easily divided and will self-seed all around given damp, dappled conditions.
Grows well in full light in the bog garden, but given some dappled shade
will grow in most situations where the soil remains moist at all times.
They are a good choice for woodland, bog gardens or on the edge of ponds (though not actually in the pond itself!) and really thrive in moist conditions.
Miller’s Crimson has red flowers and Apple Blossom soft pink.
Supplied in minimum 1 litre pot.
