No. of seeds per packet: minimum 30. All seeds freshly harvested in the current year.

‘Golden Tiara’ is a great improvement over Clematis ‘Golden Harvest’ giving a much shorter vine (2-3 m vs 6-7 m). ‘Golden Tiara’ offers a fabulous, much smaller plant with richer colours.

Its profuse, bright buttercup yellow blossoms hold their heads up more and have a sweet fragrance when young. The nodding flowers open flat to reveal prominent deep, dark black-purple stamens making a lovely accent.

Excellent for container or garden planting.

Raised by Kuif, Holland in 1994. A chance seedling of ‘Golden Harvest’.
Group: Tangutica
Height: 2.5 – 3.0 metres
Flowering: Jul Aug Sep Oct
Aspect: Sun or semi-shade
Pruning: Hard prune (Group 3)
Country of origin: Holland 1994

NOTE: Clematis seed, if grown from a named variety, will produce offspring that may vary from the mother plant. The time of germination will also vary, but will not be improved by delaying the sowing. The good news: this type of orientalis/tangutica clematis is one of the easiest to germinate from seed.

Tip: divide your seed; sow some seed immediately (autumn) and leave some for sowing in spring. Species clematis and many small-flowered types can germinate in six weeks, but can take a year or more if conditions are not to their liking. Golden Tiara seeds should germinate within a few weeks.
