Probably one of the most popular large-flowered, late-flowering clematis.
The rich deep blue-purple flowers with greenish-cream centres are like velvet, and make a wonderful sight. It has broader tepals than those of ‘Jackmanii’ and red shading along the midribs which fades with age.
Will grow in any aspect (north, south, east or west-facing) and flowers from June to September.
